Your vision needs to have legs.

If you spend all of your time brainstorming, tweaking your ideas, researching a topic and not doing anything with it (does that sound familiar?) then you are not actually getting the product out in front of your customers.

I know some will argue that you need to sit in front of the computer for hours and figure it out before putting something out there (we do need to figure it out first) but for those of us that over think this can be disastrous.

At some point you will have to act.

You will have to list your product, approach a retailer, buy the supplies, attempt a new technique, write that blog post, begin that novel, or apply for the craft show.

The unknown can be frightening but to not act on your dream is taking the wind out of your sails. One thing my brother’s accident has taught me is that life is too short to live in fear – so dream, think smart, and take action!

This year for teacher gifts I found out personal likes and used that information to create one-of-a-kind gifts for each teacher and a special office manager. Today, I am sharing how I decorated an inexpensive wood frame.

MATERIALS:
*Wood Frame
*Scrapbook Paper
*Adhesive (I used Mod Podge for this project)
*Acrylic Paint
*Sponge Brush and Paint Brush
*Scissors

WHAT TO DO:
I lightly sanded the frame and wiped it off. Trace around the frame on the back of the paper and cut out.

This is the best time to paint the frame.

Adhere the paper to the frame and rub out any bubbles. A used gift card is a great way to smooth out the paper.

I chose to lightly paint over the paper with Martha Stewart's metallic paint. This particular paint is very thick and does not go on smoothly so keep this in mind if using the metallic acrylic paint for a project.

Once the entire frame was painted, I then painted a floral detail and the word "believe" to the front.

Don't forget to paint the back of the frame! If it sits on a desk it will be seen. I printed out a quote for the picture place holder and then printed out a message of thanks with my URL for the back of the frame.

While I was at it I also painted this canvas for a teacher. I used her favorite colors and wanted to show her how much I appreciate her time with my daughter.

Now, I need to get going on making fudge and cookies for everyone else!

Guest Post ::: Children's Tool Belt Tutorial

Hi! This is Lisa!

Mom to four.

Nursing student.

Blogger.

Etsy shop Owner.

And this is my tutorial for a

children's tool belt

Ingredients:
2 9x13 pieces of base fabric (I used the canvas type fabric)
2 3x18 pieces of base fabric
2 6x13 pieces of matching pocket material (I used flannel)
1 4x7 piece of pocket material fabric

**Seams are 1/4 inch.

1. Create the ties. Fold the 3x18 piece of fabric in half lengthwise; iron.

2. Fold one end of the tie in 1/4 inch, iron.

3. Fold the bottom portion of the tie in half (below the fold you created), iron.

4. Repeat with the top half. Repeat these steps with the 2nd tie.

5. Create the loop. Fold the 4x7 piece of flannel in half, iron.

6. Fold the bottom portion in half again, iron.

7. Repeat with the top part.

8. The small loop should look like this.

9. Sew down the entire length of both ties and the top part of the loop.

10. Place the two 6x13 pieces of flannel together, right sides facing. Stitch along the top edge.

11. Iron open the seams. Fold along the seam so that the right sides are both facing outward. Top stitch along the top edge.

12. Measure off 2 dividing lines for the pockets. One at 4 1/2 inches and the other at 9 1/2 inches. Place the flannel pocket piece on top of the 9x13 backing piece. Line up the bottom edges.

13. Sew along the marked lines, back-stitching at the top to add strength.

14. Pin the ties and loop to the backing/ flannel pocket piece. **Be sure that the ties come to the center and that the loop is to the center of backing/ pocket piece; otherwise, the ties and loop will be on the wrong side!

15. Place the second 9x13 backing piece on top of the backing/ pocket piece, right sides together. Run your ties out the top of the pieces to reduce the bulk while sewing. Sew around the sides and bottom. Backstitch over the ties and loop for strength. Cut away any bulky ends.

16. Flip the tool belt right side out. Fold the top pieces in so that they are flush with the tops of the ties. Iron flat.

17. Top stitch around the entire perimeter of the tool belt. Be sure that you sew all layers closed along the top.

You are finished!
